Jim Hoel died suddenly October 18, 2016 after a brief illness. He was 85. Jim grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin. During the Korean War, he served two years in the army in Germany. A graduate of Miami University, he taught over 5,000 Norwood students in five decades from 1956 to 1993. As host of WCET's "Our History in Ohio", Jim became a familiar face to seventh graders across the state in the 1970s. Jim was a devoted and treasured husband to his wife of 56 years, Sue Wilson Hoel, a loving father to his two children, Melissa Hoel Deutsch and Blake Hoel, loving father-in-law to David Deutsch and Berit Nelson and beloved grandfather to Jake, Caleb, Rowan and Merrick. The funeral service will be Saturday, October 22 at 1:30pm at Christ Church Cathedral at the corner of Fourth and Sycamore.
