James Marshall Pollock

September 23, 1924 — April 14, 2015

POLLOCK, J. Marshall beloved husband of the late Catherine "CHATTY," Pollock, devoted father of John (Susan) Pollock, Judy (Bounthanom) Pollock and the late Alan Pollock, loving grandfather of Megan (Andrew), David (Angela), John (Erin), Dean and Mark (Pauline), great-grandfather of Will, Ella and Hazel, dear brother of the late Mary Beth Pollock, very special friend of Joyce Hensel. Passed away Tuesday April 14, 2015 at age 90. Our Dad-Marsh-was a loving husband and father, a proud grandfather and great grandfather, a devoted brother to Mary Beth, a close companion to his wonderful friend Joyce, a good friend to many, a devout Christian and servant to College Hill Presbyterian, and enthusiastic Boy Scout leader, an eager traveler and a loyal long-term employee of Procter and Gamble. Son of Ross and Lena Pollock, he grew up enjoying Big Sky country in Helena, Montana where he was a high achieving student, who entered Carlton College in Minnesota at the age of 15. He began working on his Ph. D at the University of Minnesota, where he met our Mom, Chatty, while waiting tables in her sorority. They were married in 1949, and came to Cincinnati in 1952, where Dad began his career with P&G. Mom and Dad raised John, Alan and Judy in Monfort Heights and White Oak, faithfully attending sporting events, scout meetings and outings, and taking the family on frequent camping trips, as well as regular trips to visit family in Minnesota, Montana, Missouri, Colorado, California and Virginia. Dad and Mom made friends everywhere they went, with lasting memories and friendships from Germany, Australia, England, Denmark, France and Africa. Our home was filled with mementos from across the U.S. and many foreign countries. Dad was an avid reader, particularly enjoying spy novels. He had many interests, and also enjoyed non-fiction. He was gifted with a great humor, intelligence and faith. He was a leader in his Church, and he and Mom served together for many years in Christ's Community in College Hill. Dad and Mom greatly enjoyed their years in residence at Twin Towers, seeing old friends and making new ones. Dad gave much of his time to contribute in various ways to others in his last community, and even passing acquaintances there remember still his friendliness and humor. He will be remembered with much love, respect and affection. A Memorial Service will be held at the Wilson Chapel of Twin Towers 5343 Hamilton Ave., College Hill Saturday May 16, 2015 at 11 AM with a reception to follow. Donations in memory of Marsh may be made to CAIN (Churches Active In Northside) 4230 Hamilton Ave, Cinti OH 45223 or Christ Community in College Hill 5819 Salvia Ave, Cinti, OH 45224.
