WESSEL, James. Beloved husband of Patricia Wessel (nee Blakley) for 62 years. Devoted father of the late James “Jimmy” (Kelly-nee Patrick) Wessel, Sheri (Jay) Weingartner, and Dee (Ray) Hamilton. Cherished grandfather of Chris, Malorie, Matt, Celeste, Nick, Garrison and Grayson. Loving great-grandfather to Brooklyn, Penelope and Waylon. Dear brother of JoAnn Denzler and beloved nephew of Joe and Flo. Passed away December 27, 2020 at the age of 83. Jim graduated from Xavier University in 1959. He was a true man of faith, family, friends, and his much-loved softball. While his background was that of a chemical engineer, he had a passion for architecture which led to his fondness of both designing and building homes. That, in turn, led to the development and creation of the current Pentad family compound. This was a son’s great dream turned into a father’s dream reality. Jim was also extremely devoted to his parish serving in many different ministries and greatly enjoyed time with his small faith groups, M4 buddies as well as his golf cronies. Sports played a large role in his life (from track to football to basketball during his high school career, to eventually playing college football at Xavier University). Playing softball professionally from age 18 to 72, he earned much recognition and many trophies for his life-long passion . Visitation will take place at St. Susanna Church, 616 Reading Rd., Mason, Saturday from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Mass will al be livestreamed for those that wish to view. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Susanna Church or to the Schuh Pantry. Condolences to hodappfuneralhome.com.
