Jewel Lucille Phillips Muncy, 91 years of age, died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Mt. Pleasant in Monroe, OH. She was one of six children born to Willie and Clara Phillips in Macon, Georgia. During World War II, while her husband Bernard Leon Muncy was fighting in the North African and European theaters, she served at home as a Rosie the Riveter, working on planes at Warner Robins AFB. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandparent and a special aunt to many of her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four of her siblings -- William, John, May, and Caroline; her husband, Bernard; and her granddaughter Andrea Nicole (Nikki) Muncy. She is survived by a sister Elva Abercrombie of Byron, GA., her three children Betty Austin (Tom) of Aiken, SC; Dottie Keppler (Tim) of Cross Hill, SC; and Bernard Muncy Jr. (Pam) of Trenton, OH; two grandsons James (Rachel) and Jason; and five great grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews whom she loved. Visitation will take place at the Hodapp Funeral Home 6410 Cincinnati-Dayton Rd., (LIBERTY TWP), Thursday from 6pm until 8pm.
