John Gruber

John R. 95, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, under the care of Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash, OH. John is preceded in death by his wife Sue, and survived by his five children: John (Ann) of Mount Vernon, Iowa; Mark (Amy) of Louisville, Kentucky; Mary Geisen of Cincinnati, Ohio; Matt (Maha) of San Antonio, Texas; and David (Cindy) of Charlotte, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren: Christopher (Jeni), Nicholas (Victoria), Daniel (Kayla), Steve, Michael, Stephen, Kristen, Timothy, James, Theresa, and Robert; and three great grandchilden, Laura, Addison and Grayson. Preceding John in death were his parents, Alphonse and Alma Gruber; siblings Helen (Gerald) Eggleston and Dr. James (Lucille) Gruber. Born in Cincinnati, John graduated from St. Xavier High School and the University of Cincinnati. He went onto work at the Naval Research Lab in Washington D.C. and earned a Master’s Degree from The Ohio State University.  John then worked at Avco. and Cincinnati Electronics for many years and served as the Treasurer, Vice Chairman and Chairman at the I.E.E.E Cincinnati Chapter. John and Sue were founding members of St. Bartholomew Church.  Visitation will be held at St. Bartholomew Church, 9375 Winton Road, Saturday, August 27, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Memorial gifts can be made in John’s name to Glenmary Home Missioners, PO Box 45618, Cinti, OH 45246.
