John Holmes

John Holmes 85, of Reading died suddenly July 28 at his residence. He was married to Helen Holmes for 56 years. Preceded in death by his parents Sam & Dallie Holmes of Crab Orchard, Kentucky; brother, Donald also of Crab Orchard; sister, Shirley Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Survived by daughter, Anna Vititoe of Cincinnati; brother, Gary Holmes of Sharonville; sister Doris Hayes of Jackson, Kentucky; many nieces and nephews and loving friends. He leaves behind special friends, Matthew Gilardi and Pat Pittman. Owner of Valley Radiator Service in Lockland for 59 years. John was well known in the Valley for his friendliness and love for people. Many knew John for his involvement in the racing community. He was very active in the dirt track racing, owning cars and helping others where needed until the late 1990's. He leaves many friends still involved in the sport. John was very proud of his service in the US Army, he served 1952 - 1955 during the Korean conflict. John was loved by all that knew him. Visitation will be held Monday, July 31, 2017 at Hodapp Funeral Home 7401 Vine St. Cincinnati, OH 45216 from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m.
