John Douglas Wilson

John Douglas Wilson, 69, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2023, in Monroe, Ohio.  The son of the late John and Esme (Jago) Wilson, John was born on January 14, 1954, in Hammersmith, London, England.  The family emigrated from England to Canada and then to the United States, to take up residence in Fort Wayne, IN.  John became a US citizen in 1983 to enlist in the US Navy.  He served 10 years, achieving the rank of E6 Petty Officer 1st Class Sonar Tech and served aboard the USS Miller (FF-1091) Newport, RI, the USS Richmond K. Turner (CG20) Charleston, NC and as a Navy Recruiter based out of Richmond, IN. His civilian career was in business management.  John was an avid Beatles fan, enjoyed woodworking, watching sports and fishing with his family.

John is survived by his wife Martha L Prader, daughter Natalie Herold (Wilson) of Fairfield, OH, son Michael Wilson of Monroe, OH; grandchildren, Liam (Maleah) Herold of Hamilton, OH, Bradan Herold of Fairfield, OH, and Jaxon Wilson of Monroe, OH.  Additional family members survive along with many nieces and nephews.  John had a close relationship with his sister Alexis Green (Wilson) of Washington, IN, uncle Gordon Wilson of Mississauga, Canada, and close friend, Tim Satori, of Mason, OH.

Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 2 PM until time of Memorial Service at 3 PM at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6410 Cincinnati Dayton Rd., Liberty Twp., OH 45044.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to any charity of your choice.
