Joseph Anthony "Buddy" Castelli

CASTELLI- Joseph Anthony “Buddy” Castelli, 98, died peacefully on March 26, 2021
surrounded by his loving family. Buddy was a beloved husband for 65 years to the late
Patricia Grace Castelli, the love of his life. He is survived by his children Tony Castelli,
Diane Castelli, Beth (Mark) Hiltz and Neal Castelli. Grandchildren Samantha (Eric)
Niemeyer, Andrew (Traci) Castelli, Grace Castelli, Anthony and Kennedy Castelli. Great
grandchildren Hudson, Morgan and Larkin Niemeyer and Elli Castelli. Many nieces and
nephews and his best pal, Brodie.

Buddy was preceded in death by his mother Anna Castelli, father Joseph Castelli,
sisters Sr. Maria, RSM, Sr. Consolata RSM, and brothers Edmond, Richard, and Robert
Castelli.

Buddy was born April 1, 1922 in Cincinnati, Ohio and completed an Engineering degree
at the University of Alabama. LTJG Joseph Castelli, a World War II veteran, served in
the United States Navy during the Battle of Okinawa and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He fell in love with Patricia Mulholland and they married shortly after his discharge from
the military. His career with the EPA was distinguished by his leadership in opening the
agency’s first environmental research center in Clifton, OH. Buddy loved to play all
sports. His favorite sport after retirement was golf. Buddy made friends easily including
many dear friends at both the Jewish Community Center and the Queen City Racquet
Club.

His primary focus was his family, hosting many family gatherings at his home “The 612
Club.” Buddy’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and faith in God sustained and
nurtured him through good times and bad.

Visitation at St. Bartholomew Church, 9375 Winton Rd., Tuesday from 9 a.m. until Mass
of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials may
be made to Hospice of Cincinnati, P.O. Box 633597, Cincinnati, OH 45263.
