Josephine Norma Shanks

(nee Castelluccio) died January 15 at the age of 92.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Daniel James Shanks, her sisters Angela (Peter) Vitale and Norma C. Castelluccio.   She is survived by her sister Vee (Louis) Seta and her sister-in-law Rita (William) Perkins.  She is also survived by her eight children and their spouses: Mark Shanks, Tom and Mary Shanks, Kathy and Jim Breitenbach, Rick and Janet Shanks, Pat and Carla Shanks, Martha and Terry Allman, Joanna Sonnefeld and Pauline and Brian Fitzgerald. She had eighteen beloved grandchildren and their spouses: Michael and Amanda Shanks, Joe and Margaret Shanks, Dan Shanks, Andrea and Dan Frazer, Allison and Matthew Servizzi, Jillian and Tim Miller, R.J. Shanks, Matthew Shanks, Natalie and Michael Russell, Nicole Shanks, Danielle and Mitchell Trotta, Makenzie Shanks, Justin Shanks, Nicholas Allman, Kelly Sonnefeld, Eric Sonnefeld, Jack Sonnefeld, and Andrew Fitzgerald.  Also beloved were her great-grandchildren: Ethan and Hannah Frazer; Olivia and Logan Shanks; Madison Trotta; Elle, Gabriel, Noah and Julia Miller. Jo was a member of St. Vivian parish for 70 years, served on the parish council and was a long-time volunteer for Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati.  She loved to play bridge and other card games; travel with her husband and their friends; play tennis, golf and the piano; work crossword puzzles and watch Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and the Reds.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vivian Church, 7600 Winton Rd., Cincinnati, 45224 on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati and St. Vivian Church.  Condolences at hodappfuneralhome.com
