Joy Janell Norwood (nee Cook) passed away on May 29, 2021 at her home. She was born in Barnes, Kansas on August 25, 1936 and was the daughter of Howard and Gladys Cook. Joy was the loving mother of Rebecca C. Taylor and grateful mother-in-law of Daniel Taylor. Dear grandmother of Whitney A. Cecrle (Chad) and Abbey N. McKenzie (Chris) and the proud Great Grandmother (GG) of Ella Janelle and Jack James . Shelley K. Hamann was her cherished companion of 38 years.
Joy served in the United State Army from 1955 until 1958. She trained as an Operating Room Technician and worked in several Army hospitals. After moving to Cincinnati, she received her real estate license and was a real estate broker for over 40 years in the Greater Cincinnati area. She touched thousands of lives navigating clients through the real estate process. Many of Joy's former clients became life long friends.
Joy was a long time member of Christ's Church and participated in many choirs and orchestras over the years. Even in her eighties she was a member of the Ambassadors Choir at the Christian Village at Mason.
Joy was predeceased by her sisters Vona Schleicher and Nelda Ottinger. She is survived by her brother Hulan Cook and sisters Nina Surgener (David ) and Debra Lampe (Jeff). She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at Christ's Church, 5165 Western Row Rd., Mason, Ohio, on Thursday (6/10) beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of the Service of Remembrance at 11:00 AM. Burial of the ashes will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, 2421 Princeton Rd., Hamilton, Ohio.
