Joyce Marie Stacy

Joyce Marie Stacy, 82, of Liberty Township passed away peacefully on September 8th after a brief battle with Dementia. She passed in the home she loved so much.

Joyce was born on October 18, 1940, to Arabelle (Bell) and Melvin (Mel) Nothe in Palmer, Mass. Joyce wanted to be a mom, so at an early age, married Douglas E Stacy on March 13, 1958, and was blessed to have Pamela Lee, and then 18 months later had Deborah Ann. Doug worked for Diamond International and was given the opportunity to relocate the small family to Ohio. Arabell & Melvin also worked for Diamond and came down to Ohio as well. After about a year, Mom & Dad were fortunate enough to find a home in Liberty Township (formerly considered to be in Middletown) on Millikin Road. Our little family grew to include two sons, Dougles Harold & Ronnie Melvin both born in Middletown Hospital. Mom devoted her life to making ours a healthy and happy one. Mom made sure the house was spotless and our clothes were clean every day. She loved to vacuum the whole house every day at the wee hours of the morning...but we slept right thru it. Both mom and dad found it hard with 4 kids to live on one income, so Mom looked for work in the Lakota school system starting out as a cook in the lunch room, then as a bus driver. She worked her way up to driving for the handicap students and became devoted to "her kids" and loved every minute of it, so much so she finally retired at the age of 73 having worked for Lakota 40 years.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Bell and Mel, and her granddaughter, Autumn. She is survived by her husband, Doug and by her children, Pam& David (spouse), Deb& Jeff (spouse), Doug& Karen (spouse), and Ron& Marci (spouse), as well as her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Maryann & Clayton (spouse), Jessica, Benjamin, Rachel, Clayton, Kyle & Marisa.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6410 Cincinnati Dayton Rd., Liberty Township, Ohio from 11 AM until time of funeral service at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Liberty Township Ohio.
