Juanita Accurso

Juanita Accurso (nee Grischy) was born July 16, 1942 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Mom married Vincent “Butch” Accurso, the neighborhood boy across the street from where she lived on Fowler Street. She would watch him from her window while he would gather newspapers for his route.

Mom and Dad had four children, Lisa (Than Win), Angela (Accurso-Garrison), Kathryn (Rooney), and Anthony.  She loved and was so proud of her 9 grandchildren – Lauren, Megan, Hannah, Andrew, Allie, Annie, AJ, Luken, and Bodie.

She was a stay-at-home Mom while Dad worked at GE.  We were blessed to have her be at home with us while we were growing up. Later she worked at Al Smith Paint Store giving advice to customers for paint and wallpaper choices. 

Mom had many hobbies and was very crafty. She loved sewing, crocheting, embroidery and tutoring children.  She sang a lot around the house to the likes of Johnny Mathis and Barry Manilow.

Mom sewed some of our clothes as children and she sewed her grandchildren’s costumes for Halloween and plays. Mom loved to embroider and cross-stitch pictures and pillowcases.  She crocheted baby blankets and hats for new moms.  Mom also tutored children at Oyler School. 

Mom had so many life-long friends she met in grade school at William Howard Taft, Hughes High School days and our childhood friends’ parents. Mom’s friends and she got together for lunches monthly and another group on Fridays.  Back in the day, the group would go garage sale shopping for toys for the grandchildren.  Lunch with friends was always full of laughter together.

Mom lived a full life.  She was always kind, loving and loved a good sense of humor.  Our Mom never realized that she was so well loved by others. During the years, Mom always told us she wanted a celebration of her life.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 13^th at 10 am at Holy Family Church in the front vestibule.   The funeral mass will begin Holy Family Church at 11am. Holy Family is located at 3006 W. 8^th Street, Cinti, Ohio 45205.
