Karen Marie Broering

October 13, 1958 — June 11, 2024

Karen Broering (nee Geis), age 65, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 11, 2024 after a spirited and courageous battle with cancer.

Karen was a devout Catholic, a good friend, a caring daughter and sister, loving mother, and adoring grandmother. She had a fulfilling career, culminating at Mercy Health where she could apply her caring nature to helping the community live well. Karen, who “...would’ve had at least 30 children, if the doctor didn’t stop (her),” has said her proudest achievement in life was her 6 children and 9 grandchildren.

Karen was the beloved daughter of Mary Louise Geis and sister to the late Robert Geis. She is survived by her siblings David Geis, Ken (& Sandy) Geis, and Diane Michael; and children Angela (& Michael) Elsasser, John Broering Jr., Beau (& Ashley) Broering, Benjamin (& Danielle) Broering, Kurt Broering, and Brett (& Stephanie) Broering, and their father John Broering, Sr. Karen is also survived by her very much adored 9 grandchildren: Ansley, Aiden, Angelina, Skyler, Elijah, Isabelle, Skarlett, Grace, and Loralei.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all who have supported Karen during this struggle, especially her close friends, Mary and Joyce, her doctors and medical staff that aided and cared for her in her battle, and all in her life who supported her with their prayers.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati Columbus Rd in West Chester, and a celebration mass of Karen’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on June 17, 2024, at St Gabriel Catholic Church, 48 W Sharon Ave.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Karen’s honor to the American Cancer Society or the American Epilepsy Society.

Karen’s legacy of love and compassion will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew her, and will be remembered with every angel statue, as well as everything and anything purple 💜
