Kenneth Nelson Abney

LTC Kenneth N Abney, of Liberty Township, Ohio, passed away April 14, 2025. Ken was born in Dayton, Ohio, October 26, 1948, to Kenneth and Essie (Powell) Abney. He was a 1967 graduate of Miamisburg High School.

After high school, Ken enlisted in the US Army where he specialized as a medic. His passion for health care and helping others led him to become a Physician Assistant which had just emerged in the health field in the late 1970’s. He spent 42 years practicing as a Physician Assistant, serving in the military and in various Federal positions. He was very passionate about being a PA and about being a veteran. His career led him to one of his favorite duty stations, Schofield Barracks. He loved Hawaii and the time he spent there serving, diving, vacationing, and watching the whales. Ken loved everyone who entered his life and will be greatly missed by all his family. Graveside services will be held April 22, 2025, at 11AM at Miami Valley Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Disabled American Veterans (DAV) to honor his service.
