Born on July 1, 1947, in Decatur, Alabama, Kenneth Ray Lewey was the first of three children born to Jerrell and Jean Lewey.
He attended and graduated from Deshler High School. He enlisted in the Army and was sent to Fort Polk, where he met the love of his life, Judy Ann Lewey. Shortly after they were married they welcomed their first of two children, Terry Allen Lewey. Three years later they had their second child, Stephen Ray Lewey.
In 1969, after an honorable discharge from the Army, Ken joined the Boise Southern Corporation in DeRidder, Louisiana. There he spent 17-years advancing through several promotions and building the foundation for his successful 48-year career in the pulp and paper industry. In the early 90’s, Ken accepted a position as mill manager for Howard Paper in Urbana, OH. This move brought the Lewey clan back together in Ohio where they all reside today. In the late 90’s, Ken made the decision to move out of operations and into chemical sales for the pulp and paper industry. This new path ultimately led to a position with Quality Products as VP of sales. In 2005, Ken rounded out his career in pulp and paper by opening his own specialty chemical company, Covenant Solutions. This successful career was not only measured by his many accomplishments but moreover by the friendships he developed and ability to mentor colleagues in this industry.
After his retirement in 2018, he continued to reside in Fairfield, OH for the rest of his days. During this time, you could frequently find Ken fishing, working in the yard, visiting friends and telling stories. He never knew a stranger and always had a kind word. Above all, Ken treasured his grandchildren. The joy in his face when any of them were around was unmistakable. He was the best wagon puller in the world, at least according to his grandkids.
Ken was spiritual, with a deep and personal Christian faith. He lived his life by a strong moral and ethical code, placing the interest of others before himself. With an authentic interest and genuine empathy, he engaged strangers and family alike. Many became lifelong friendships. Though these friendships were sacred, his lifeblood was family in which he invested with few limits. He unselfishly and unconditionally gave his time, treasure, and love.
We thank God for the special gift that was his life and the time we spent with him. We pray that God will quickly fill this wide hole in our hearts with the many special memories of our time with him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years Judy Ann Lewey of Fairfield, OH, his loving children Terry (Maja) Lewey and Steve (Linda) Lewey, dear grandchildren Lauren Sims, Allyson Lewey, Chase Lewey, Jackson Lewey, Isabelle Wright and Madelyn Wright, cherished great granddaughter Blair Sims, adoring sister Faye Foster and numerous family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerrell and Jean Lewey; brother, William Alfred Lewey.
Kenneth passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 with family by his side cherishing sweet memories.
