Kimberly “Kim” Shepard (nee Perry), 66, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away surrounded by family on October 5, 2024.
Kim is survived by her husband of 44 years and love of her life, H. Wayne Shepard, Jr., daughter Rachel (Chad) Bowen, grandchildren Ainsley and Shepard Bowen, parents Lankford “Cleve” and Ruth (Gruenemeier) Perry, siblings Wayne (Marilyn) Perry, Wanda (Len) Petrey, Randy (Missy) Perry. Mother-in-law Carol Shepard, siblings-in-law Christine Shepard, Nancy Shepard, and David Shepard. Nieces and nephews Tiffany (Chris) Francis, Brittany Perry, Steffany Perry, Nathan Petrey, Seth (Victoria) Petrey, Jacob (Abbie) Petrey, Matthew (Kaitlin) Perry, Ryan Shepard, Sarah (Jon) Belk, Alison Shepard, Nicole (Travis) Meyer, Samuel Shepard, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Kim was preceded in death by her father-in-law, H. Wayne Shepard, Sr., grandparents Raymond and Ollie Perry and George and Alma Gruenemeier, brother-in-law Christon Shepard, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Kim was born on September 2, 1958; she was the second of four children born to Cleve and Ruth Perry. Kim met her husband Wayne in college, and they were married on June 14, 1980. After college, she became a nurse, first working in ophthalmology and adult medicine, and then in pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital until she retired in 2018. Kim dedicated her life to taking care of children and their families; she won two Daisy awards for the extraordinary care she provided during those years. She was beloved by patients and coworkers alike.
In her retirement, Kim enjoyed Pilates and walking, lunch dates with Wayne and her friends, and vacationing in Florida. She was an accomplished cook and baker; visitors to her home (including her grand-dogs) never left hungry.
All who knew Kim knew she was fiercely and selflessly devoted to her family. She was a thoughtful and involved wife, mother, and daughter who found great joy in her family. Kim was especially proud to be Mimi to Ainsley and Shepard, who were the apples of her eye. She attended nearly all of their swim meets, where she was known for cheering louder than anyone else; she organized crafts, science experiments, pool days, and other fun adventures; and most of all, she simply loved and cared for her grandkids.
Kim has always been known for her warmth, spunk, and faith in Jesus Christ. She made our world go ‘round and is dearly missed.
