CASTEEL, Dr. Lewis Glenn, loving and devoted husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, age 84 of College Hill, passed away at Maple Knoll Hospice Thursday August 14th, 2013. He was born in a log cabin in Bond, Kentucky, February 12, 1929, the son of Jesse and Della (Bond). Dr. Lewis was reared in Jackson County Kentucky, mostly in the town of McKee. He was a star basketball player while in high school there. At the age of 17 he entered the Army. Upon his honorable discharge he entered school at Berea College and Eastern Kentucky University. He later transferred to the University of Louisville where he graduated with his D.M.D. degree. After graduating, he began his career in Dentistry first in Sardinia, Ohio, then opened an office at 1642 Cedar Ave. in College Hill, Ohio, retiring in 1992 when his office was located at 954 W. North Bend Rd. in Finneytown, Ohio. He held many prestigious dental awards including being a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He was a life member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, and the Cincinnati Dental Society. Dr. Casteel was a member of the College Hill Christian Church for over 50 years and was an Elder Emeritus there. He was a member of the Gideon’s International and various other Christian and Dental organizations. He served as past president of most organizations he was a member of. Dr. Casteel was a member of College Hill Freemasonry, H.S. Johnson Lodge #641 and the Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite Free Masonry. He was a 32 degree member. Further, he was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mildred Alice (Rucker) their eldest son, Donald Lewis, and grandson Zechariah. He is survived by: Dr. Glenn E. (Lori Hendrix) of West Chester, Raymond Keith (Denise Black) of Fairfield, and Rev. N. Paul (Jewelie Whitener) of West Liberty, Kentucky; five grandsons, Benjamin Lewis (Suzanne Geary), Christopher Thomas(Amber Covert), Nathaniel, Joshua, and Samuel; three granddaughters, Abigail, Cassidy, and Sarah, one great grandson, Zachary and one great granddaughter Cecilia. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nadine (Darrell McQueen), Eulene (Robert York), and one brother, Bryon (Iris) and is survived by one brother, Jesse “Jay L” (Pat) living in Palm Bay, Florida and his close friend and Trustee, Stanley (Pat) Stanford. Memorial Visitation will be Tuesday, August, 20th, 2013; 11:00 a.m. at The College Hill Christian Church located at 1631 Marlowe Avenue in College Hill. A Masonic Service and Memorial Service will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Gideons International; P.O. Box 140800, Nashville TN 37214 or The West Liberty Christian Church, P.O. Box 1, West Liberty, Kentucky 41472. Funeral Arrangements are being coordinated by Hodapp Funeral Home, College Hill. Final Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery, Mt. Healthy, Ohio.
