Lisa Marie (Lyons) Miller passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, after a valiant 30-year battle with multiple sclerosis. Lisa never let her illness affect the joy and love she found in life and in her family.
Lisa was born on May 24th, 1965 in Finneytown, Ohio. She graduated from Finneytown High School in 1983 and lived in the Cincinnati area for her entire life. She enjoyed board games and rock music, as well as listening to her husband drum in bands and going on fishing trips with him and her family. She fondly remembered reading to her children and singing them to sleep when they were young. Most of all, she enjoyed simply being with her family. Her husband and children were her life. She lived to love and support them.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Jens Andersen Miller, her son, Kyle Andersen Miller, and her daughter, Brandi Elizabeth (Miller) McCutcheon. She and Jens met while working at McDonald’s in 1984. Jens knew that she was dedicated when she spent six hours fishing with him in a rowboat on an icy lake, bundled up in freezing weather. She didn’t complain once because she was just happy to be with him and share in what he enjoyed. Jens remembers how her good nature and happiness were infectious: she was the bright spot in any gathering and had a unique calming presence. People wanted to be around her and to tell her jokes, because they knew she would always genuinely laugh, even at bad ones. Lisa and Jens were married on May 20th, 1989. She said her wedding day was the best day of her life, and she enjoyed looking through the wedding album and watching the video with her family every anniversary. Lisa and her family appreciated the unconditional and heroic sacrifices that Jens made to take the best possible care of her throughout her illness. For Jens, this was simply a matter of course in return for everything she had done for him. They would not have made it so far without each other.
Kyle shares his mother’s deep love and care for family. He will never forget the last day out he spent with Lisa while she was still truly herself. She wanted to go out for ice cream, but she couldn’t drive, so he took the day off from work to take her and spend the day with her. At the time, he didn’t realize what a special memory this would become. She was infamous for being a slow ice-cream eater and always fighting with drips.
Brandi remembers how Lisa let her and Kyle skate and ride bikes inside their house one day when it was raining outside. Lisa was always caring, generous, and fun with her kids no matter what trouble they got into. Brandi fondly remembers walking around the neighborhood together when she was little, as well as learning to bake cookies with her. Fortunately for Brandi’s husband, she inherited much of Lisa’s warmth, good nature, and love of games. Lisa was proud of Brandi’s academic achievements and strength through hardship. Brandi’s wedding day would have probably been Lisa’s second favorite day ever. Brandi is expecting her first child, Lisa’s first grandchild, a boy, this summer.
Lisa’s grace, positivity, and bravery were inspiring to her family and everyone else around her. She was undefeatable. Her unbroken spirit through the trials of her life served as an example to all who knew her. She was the nicest person you could ever meet. Her warmth, humor, and constant upbeat attitude made being around her a joy. Her radiant personality and smile will be missed. Her limitless love for her family was appreciated more than she could know and will not be forgotten. Even her future grandchildren will know her love. Although she was taken too soon, her memory and legacy will live on through the effect she had on her friends and family, but especially her husband and children, because she made them who they are.
