It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lonnie Gary Allen, 78, who left us on March 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Lonnie was born on August 17, 1946, in Hamilton, Ohio, to the late William and Edna Allen. He graduated from Lakota High School in 1965 and went on to work at General Electric for 35 years, retiring early at the age of 50.
Lonnie married Barbara in 1967, and together they enjoyed 57 wonderful years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; their two daughters, Robin (Bill) Geier and Kimberly (Michael) Dixon; and five grandchildren, Megan, Hayden, Lily, Elena, and Nicholas. He is also survived by his brothers, Chris and Rudy, and was preceded in death by his siblings, Norma and Wade.
In retirement, Lonnie cherished spending time with his wife and grandchildren. He spent many weekends with his “car club family,” Mason Street Rods, and enjoyed restoring classic cars up until his death. Lonnie never met a stranger and was never shy about sharing his opinions and advice.
A celebration of Lonnie’s life will be held at a later date this summer.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Hamilton for their compassionate care. We will deeply miss Lonnie’s direct and honest perspectives on life. Thank you to everyone who has reached out during this difficult time.
