Marcia Luken, age 74, passed away on April 7, 2025, in the arms of her husband and daughter. Born on April 4, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Ray and Helen Young (Crews), Marcia was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, teacher and friend.
Marcia graduated from Mooresville High School in 1969 where she was homecoming queen and was a graduate of Purdue University in 1973 with degrees in elementary and special education. She was a member of the Phi Mu sorority while at Purdue, where she served as Pledge Trainer. It was at Purdue that she met her life-long, loyal husband, Tom. Marcia was a gifted and loving teacher, and in the years that she taught in New Jersey and Ohio, she left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of learning from her. Marcia dedicated her life to her family. Her home was a place of warmth and laughter, with delicious home-cooked meals where friends and family were always welcome with open arms. Her sense of humor and dedication to her loved ones will be greatly missed and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life she led, her resilient spirit, and the many ways she enriched our lives. Marcia will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Marcia is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Tom; her daughter, Nicole (David); her grandchildren, Grace, and Tommy; her sister Linda; and her brother Mike (Donna). She was preceded in death by her parents.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at Immaculate Heart, 5692 Central Avenue, Indianapolis at 11am on Saturday, May 10th, with visitation one hour prior to mass. There will be a gathering to honor Marcia’s life immediately following the funeral at Northside Events & Social Club, 2100 East 71st Street, Indianapolis where friends and family are invited to come together and share their cherished memories. For those in Cincinnati wishing to pay respects, a small memorial will be held at St. John Baptiste de La Salle Chapel at La Salle High School Cincinnati at a date to be announced.
Rest in peace, Marcia. We know you are always with us, and your light will continue to shine in our hearts forever.
