Marie Back

Marie Concepcion Giglio Back passed into the loving arms of God on March 11, 2023. Marie was born March 24, 1928 in Buenos Aires, Argentina and came to the United States in her teens. She met her husband, Paul, and together they raised a family of nine children in their home behind Moeller High School. Marie was a devoted wife and mother and took great joy in spending time with her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. A child could always bring a smile to her face. Marie and Paul retired in a home they built on Norris Lake in Tennessee where they lived for ten years before returning to Cincinnati. They enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Marie was an amazing cook and always had dinner prepared, complete with dessert, and all were welcome.  Later in life she suffered from dementia but remained cheerful to the end. She joins her husband of 64 years, her daughter Dorothy, her siblings – Vincent, Rose and Gus, her parents, and many other relatives and friends in heaven. Marie leaves behind her sister, Connie; her sister-in-laws (Lou, Marie, Jo Ellen, Theresa), her eight children – John (Jill) Back, Steve Back, Mary (Bill) Moffat, Regina (Peter) Carcieri, Judy (Ken) Gerwe, Rick (Miriam) Back, Rob (Diana) Back, Don (Michelle) Back; seventeen grandchildren – Lisa (George), Tim, Cindy (John), Jessica (Bridget), Tiffany (Jessie), Stephanie (Chris), Anna (Steve), Paul,  Alicia (Jeffrey), Adam (Lina), Elizabeth (Zachary), Kathleen, Michaela (Aaron), Julia , Amber (Mike), Anthony, Noah and their families, including eighteen great-grandchildren along with many other family and friends.  She will be greatly missed.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, March 16, from 9:30 – 11:00 am at St. Susanna Catholic Church, Mason, OH.  Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11 am. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery following mass, where Marie will be laid to rest beside her husband and daughter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marie’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://act.alz.org/donate or to the Sisters of Notre Dame, who held a dear place in her heart (www.snd1.org/en/covington-kentucky-province).
