Marilyn Kay Manuel (Turkovich) passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday August 29, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Craig Manuel (nearly 44 years), loving mother of Julie Barkhurst (Matt) and Lisa Meyer (Jake), dear grandma of Mason, Makenna, Wyatt, Declan, Beckett, Dawson and Waverly and caring sister of Denny Turkovich (Charlene).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mary Turkovich, her in-laws, Paul and Bernita Manuel and several other close family members.
She is also survived by numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marilyn grew up and worked at Tall Timber Lake, her parent’s recreational lake and campground business, in New Philadelphia, Ohio. She graduated from Dover High School in Dover, Ohio in 1970. She then went to Washington D.C. to work for the FBI as a fingerprint examiner, where she met her husband Craig. After residing in Alexandria, Virginia for many years, they relocated to West Chester, Ohio in 1983, where they began raising their beautiful family. Marilyn was a stay at home mom to her two daughters and was an active volunteer in family activities through Girl Scouts, church, school and anywhere else help was needed. Marilyn loved vacationing with her family and took such joy in being surrounded by family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her 7 grandchildren.
Marilyn was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1991 and battled the disease with grace and courage for 33 years. Her generous spirit continued until her death when her wish was to donate her tissue to MS research.
Marilyn’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to her faithful caregivers (Hannah, April and Rachel) and the nurses and staff at Queen City Hospice who took wonderful care of Marilyn over the past several years.
