SCHAFER, Mark Stephen 57, of Hobe Sound, FL, passed away surrounded by loved ones on April 29th, 2017. Mark was born in San Jose, CA on April 4, 1960. He graduated from Princeton High School and continued on to serve in the Army. Mark worked as a Senior Technical Recruiter and Account Manager for Belcan/AE Industrial, working in Maryland prior to relocating to Florida. In addition to spending time with his children, he enjoyed dancing, fishing, golfing and relaxing at the beach. He was also a dedicated Cincinnati sports fan, always cheering on the Reds and Bengals. Those who knew Mark will always remember his charismatic personality and infectious laugh.
Mark is survived by his wife, Jenny Schafer of Hobe Sound, FL; Beloved father of Jason Schafer of Raleigh, NC and Morgan Schafer of Cincinnati; Dear brother of Cathy (Kirk) Gray of Cincinnati; Uncle of three nieces, Katie, Maggie and Abbey Gray; Step-father of Claudia (Gerardo) Salas of Stuart, FL and Diego (Kristin) Plata of Denver, CO; and Step-grandfather of Rebeca and Fernando Salas and Alejandra Plata. Mark is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Donald and Kathleen Schafer.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 11 AM until 1 PM to celebrate the life of Mark Stephen Schafer at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati Columbus Rd., West Chester, OH 45069. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Defeat GBM Research Collaborative through the National Brain Tumor Society.
