Mark W. Hess

Mark W. Hess passed away at Mercy Hospital Fairfield on Friday, January 5 at the age of 74. Mark was born April 7, 1943 in Cincinnati.  Mark is predeceased by his parents, Levi M. and Mary L. Tilton Hess; and a brother, Arnold L. Hess. Mark is survived by his loving wife, Sue, of 54 years; his son Mark D. (Lori) Hess, daughter Becky R. (Dave) Hess Butcher; and daughter Rachel L. Hess (Jason Links); grandchildren, Tiffany A. (Jason) Black and Derek J. Hess; Kyle A. (Jennifer Tullo) and Cody L. Vanderpool (Chelsea Hernandez); Alicia D. Kay (Jared Hatfield) and Madison G. Links; great-grandchildren: Izabella and Adelaide Vanderpool; Duncan, Korianna, and Kiera Black; Hayden and Felix Hess; and of course, his beloved dog, Chloe Jane! Mark is also survived by sisters Sharon (Ray) Hess Turner, Shirley Hess Blevins, Stephen and Norma (Whitt) Hess; and Darrell and Bonita (Heyl) Hess; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mark served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1963.  Mark was a Fabricator and Welder by trade; loved all genres of music and played many instruments, especially the songs from our church (he did like Johnny Cash too!) Mark was a lifetime member of Gospel Assembly Church and served in many capacities. Mark was a kind, loving soul who got along with everyone; and never knew a stranger. The visitation will be held at Gospel Assembly Church at 12055 Pippin Road, Cincinnati OH on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Gospel Assembly Church on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Roger Stevenson officiating.  Interment will follow at Crown Hill Memorial, 11825 Pippin Road, Cincinnati, Ohio. Condolences at hodappfuneralhome.com
