Martha Carr

d. February 10, 2009

Martha Elizabeth Demmerle Carr – loving wife, new mother, dear friend and daughter and beloved Covington teacher. Marty Carr (28) of Anderson Township passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10. Her life was one of joy, happiness, friends, family and faith. She is survived by her loving husband, Sean, and their newborn daughter, Lily Ann. A gifted and caring educator, Marty was loved by all at John G. Carlisle Elementary School in Covington where she taught third grade and served on many committees. Her students and their futures were her shining lights. Marty was a 1998 graduate of Beechwood High School in Fort Mitchell and 2002 graduate of the University of Dayton. She also held two masters degrees in education. Marty was a tireless volunteer for many charities, especially for Crossroads Church which was so important to her. Along with Sean, she traveled to Africa for Crossroad’s outreach program and locally mentored children needing guidance and love. They also spent time in the summers as counselors at Paul Newman’s camp for children with life-threatening illnesses. She gave so much to so many and never asked for anything in return. Along with Sean and her beloved baby Lily, she is survived by her grandfather Dan Demmerle of Fort Thomas and parents Margot Cameron of Little Rock, Arkansas and Dan and Jan Demmerle of Anderson Township. Also surviving are brothers Cameron, Grady and Ben and sister Katie, all of Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky. Marty was deeply loved by Sean’s family, Mick and Kathy McHugh of Wyoming, and by her sisters-in-law and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and countless friends. Her presence touched so many and she will be missed by them all. Her last gifts were Lily and then as organ donor, helping many she did not even know. Just like Marty. Visitation is at Crossroads Church, 3500 Madison Road, Oakley, from 10 – 1 Saturday, February 14, with a memorial service to follow. The burial service will be limited to members of Marty’s family. Memorials may be directed to the Lily Ann Carr Fund c/o Strauss & Troy Attorneys, 150 East Fourth St., Cincinnati, OH 45202. Hodapp Funeral Home, Carthage, serving the family.
