Mary Carol Dettmer

DETTMER, Mary Carol "Toots" (nee Palmer) of Cincinnati, passed away on Friday December 12, 2014, at age 78. Beloved wife of the late Robert M. Dettmer, loving mother of Debbie (Jeff) Bruce, Cindy (Tom) Kathman, R. Michael (Corinne) Dettmer, Sheri Dettmer, Michael Anne (Don) Brannen, Regina (Larry) Crockett, Connie (Tim) Young, grandmother of 18, great grandmother of 7, sister of Thelma "Sis" (the late Bob) Messerschmitt and the late Robert Palmer and sister-in-law of Mary Lou Palmer. Carol grew up in Deer Park and graduated from Regina High School in 1955. She attended Edgecliff where she received her teaching certificate. Carol had a strong relationship with God and was an active member of the Roman Catholic Church. She was a Cursillista for 30 years and a Lector and a Eucharistic minister at St. John the Baptist Parish. In 1983, on their 25th Wedding Anniversary, Bob and Toots went to Jerusalem, Rome, Egypt, Lourdes, and Fatima. In 1996, Bob and Carol took 41 other Cursillistas to Jerusalem. Mom, we will miss you yet we find comfort in knowing that you are reunited with Dad. Friends may call on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 4-7 pm at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6041 Hamilton Avenue, College Hill 45224. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 10 AM at St John the Baptist, 5361 Dry Ridge Rd. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Carol to Alzheimer's Association, St. Johns the Baptist School, and Meadowbrook Care Center.
