Mary Carolyn Hempel

Mary C. Hempel, 85, of West Chester, passed away on February 13, 2023, in West Chester, Ohio. Mary was born Cincinnati, Ohio to Julius and Alta Gross on July 18, 1937.  She went to school at Guardian Angels. She married Roger F Hempel on July 18, 1959, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from Edgecliff College and Butler University with a Master’s in education.  She worked as a schoolteacher for over 40 years.

Mary is survived by Son’s Roger Hempel (Leslie), Joseph Hempel (Michelle) and Thomas Hempel (Carrie) Brother Robert Gross (Bonnie), Sister Judy Singer. Grandchildren Jamie Hempel, Andrea Mauter (Steven), Toria Hempel, Timothy Hempel, Nicholas Hempel and 5 great grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Alta Gross, Husband Roger Hempel and Brother Julius Gross Jr.

Visitation will be 10:00am Friday Feb.17th at St. John’s the Evangelist Church (West Chester). Mass will follow immediately after at 11:00am with Fr. Michael of St. John’s, officiating.   Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
