Maurice Bason
January 18, 1945 — March 16, 2020
Maurice Bason was born on January 18, 1945 in Birmingham, England and died in Cincinnati on March 16, 2020. He graduated from Exeter where he met Gail who was studying abroad. Following his post graduate work at the University of Oxford, they married and emigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1968. Maurice taught physics and chemistry and coached squash and tennis at Upper Canada College, a private boys school. All three children were born in Toronto. In 1975 he and his family moved to Cincinnati to start his own consulting and executive search firm, Bason Associates, and finished his career working for the Shepherd Chemical Company. Outside of family life, he founded the Valley Habitat for Humanity chapter and served for 35 years as chairman of the Civil Service Commission for the city of Wyoming. In 2006 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Having survived, he became passionately involved with both the Pancreatic Action Network and the Cincinnati affiliate, working tirelessly with local doctors, nurses and care givers to advance the cause and survival rate of all pancreatic cancer patients. In addition he evaluated cancer research proposals for the US Department of Defense and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. He has been an avid tennis and squash player all his life and was a founding member of the working board of The T Squash Academy in Cincinnati. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
