HENSEY, Melville “Mel” D., III, of Maineville, OH passed away June 30, 2012 at age 77. Born in Charleston, WV to Mel Jr. and Bly (Roach) Hensey and reared in Beckley, WV. Loving husband for 55 years to Carol Ann (nee Hochstrasser). Beloved father of Mel IV (Mary), Terence (Bonnie), Christopher (Peg Chandler), and Anna (David) Somboretz. Loving grandfather “Pa” to Sarah (Chris Campbell), Sean (Amanda), Katherine, John, Ian and Molly Hensey; and great-grandfather to Nolan Hensey. Loving brother to Megan (Don) Bowen. Mel was a 1952 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, West Virginia and earned BS (’57) and MS (’68) degrees in civil engineering from the University of Cincinnati. Mel founded Hensey Associates in 1974, a nationally-regarded management consulting firm. He authored books on personal success, team building, and managing change. He frequently donated his time and process skills to local churches and service organizations such as the Red Cross and Freestore Foodbank. An active member of his church, Mel was a creative, enthusiastic teacher and Scout leader, and participated in the Jail Ministry. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Mel enjoyed canoeing, bike riding, square dancing, and picking up litter in his neighborhood along the Little Miami River. He could often be found caring for his trees … planted for family, friends, neighbors, and churches. Most of all, Mel loved life. His family invites you to a memorial service at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 7 at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Finneytown (703 Compton Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45231); followed by interment at Arlington Memorial Gardens. A luncheon reception will be held afterward at Northminster. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Northminster Presbyterian Church; The Dan Beard Council, BSA (10078 Reading Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45241); or Little Miami Inc. (6040 Price Rd., Milford, Ohio 45150).
