Michael (Mike) Danowski, 64, passed away on September 27, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth (nee Selinsky) and father Edmund Danowski.
Mike graduated first in his class with an Engineering degree from West Virginia Technical Institute (now part of WVU) and had a 37-year career with General Electric Aviation. As Chief Engineer in charge of aircraft turbine engine design, he was the author of 14 patents and had a hand in many design features that are critical to how aircraft engines operate safely today.
He was an avid bicyclist who twice pedaled coast-to-coast across the country: from SanDiego, CA to Charleston, SC in 1995 and from Everett, WA to Newport News, VA a few years later.
Mike also enjoyed hiking, backpacking and cross-country skiing. Some of his favorite trips were to National Parks such as Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Yosemite, Olympic, Glacier, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Acadia, Smoky Mountains, and Isle Royale.
Mike is survived by his brothers (Stephen and Paul), his sister (Marianne Sapp) and the love of his life Sue Grathwohl.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash or Free Store Food Bank.
An Open House Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 10 at the Winton Woods Mill Race Banquet Center from 6-9pm.
