Michael John Detore

Michael John Detore – loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on October 31, 2022 at the age of 71 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Judy, his daughter Beth (Shelbi) Detore and son John (Sarah Curry) Detore and his two grandsons, Mikey and Nicky, who brought immeasurable joy and light to his life. He is also survived by his sisters Marie, Janice, Cindy, Linda and brothers Dave and Stephen. 

Born in Ashtabula, Ohio on October 16, 1951 to John and Stephanie Detore, Michael was the oldest of seven children in a proud Italian family. He attended West Point and earned a master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado while in the service. Michael dedicated 33 years to working for Proctor and Gamble before retiring. 

Playing golf, going fishing, taking trips and spending time with his grandsons, family and friends filled Michael’s days with happiness. He leaves a void in so many hearts that will never be filled and there are no words to describe how much he will be missed. His family will find comfort in the memories they’ve made and will continue doing things he loved while making him proud by following the words of advice he often shared: “Tomorrow is promised to no one.”

A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Friday, December 2^nd from 5 – 9 p.m. at the Ventura located at 4557 Montgomery Rd. Norwood, OH 45212. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Michael’s memory to American Stroke Foundation, ALS Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
