Michael John Verkamp

Mike Verkamp passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the age of 64.  He is survived by his son Timothy Sparks, and his siblings Joan Schoenling, Russ (Susan) Verkamp, Ruth (Brad) Lozier, as well as many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his son Douglas Sparks, his parents Ruth Rose and Charles R. Verkamp, Sr., and his siblings Connie Flowers, Robert Verkamp, and Thomas Verkamp. 

Mike was born in Cincinnati, OH.  He worked in private contracting and construction with his brother Tom for several years. He also spent countless hours on the road over the years dedicated to a career driving specialized tanker trucks, which he ultimately retired from.  He enjoyed nature, being outdoors, and vehicle mechanics.  Mike was quiet and kind and while he appreciated time to himself, he also cherished his close relationships.  A small service for family will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00 am in the chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Rd. Cincinnati, 45249.
