Our precious wife and mother, Migdalia Martinez Johnson, passed away on Feb. 21, 2021 at Hospice of Cincinnati, Blue Ash. A private memorial service for family members will be held at West Chester Presbyterian Church in West Chester, Ohio.
Migdalia, known as Mikki, was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on September 26, 1936. Valedictorian of her high school class, she met her beloved husband, Donald Johnson, when both were students at the University of Michigan. She earned a B.A. in business administration, and they married the year of their graduation, in 1958. They moved to several areas of the country for Don’s work and, after retirement, returned to Cincinnati to be closer to their sons and their families. Mikki worked in hospital administration and as a high school Spanish instructor, and she was an exceptional seamstress. She was in all ways devoted to her sons, encouraging and celebrating their academic and professional successes and lovingly supportive of her grandchildren.
Migdalia is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald, and her four sons, Warren Johnson and his wife Annie of Punta Gorda, Florida; Steven Johnson and his wife Rebecca of Wyoming, Ohio; Scott Johnson and his wife Michele of Louisville, Kentucky; and Doug Johnson and his wife, Ginny, of West Chester, Ohio; her fifteen grandchildren, Mark and Elise Johnson and Nicholas Breidenstein, Nathaniel and Madeleine Johnson, Erin and Alex Johnson, Mitchell, Natalie, Sydney, Virginia, Angie, Phillip, Bradley and Juan Pablo Johnson, her great-grandson Graham Johnson, her sister Irma Martinez Diaz and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fernando Joaquin Martinez y Orama and Rosa Maria Diaz Pacheco. Friends wishing to honor Mikki are invited to make a donation in her name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation to support Parkinson’s disease research
