Monika Bernhardt

December 29, 1960 — February 12, 2025

In Loving Memory of Monika Bernhardt It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Monika Bernhardt on February 12, 2025 at the age of 64. Monika was born on December 29, 1960, in Mainz, Germany, and lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and friends.

To Frank, she was his partner, his love, and his greatest support for 45 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories—treasures he will carry with him forever. To Sylvia, she was a devoted sister and a constant source of love and inspiration, whose warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.

Monika was passionate about chemistry, cooking, needlework, the arts, and, not to forget, ballroom dancing and Zumba. After leaving her career as a chemist in 1999, she dedicated herself fully to her family and the joys of life. She was also a long-term board member of the P&G International Group and the La Soirée dance club, where her energy and spirit shone brightly.

As the song says:

A fool will lose tomorrow reaching back for yesterday,

I won’t turn my head in sorrow now that you just went away.

I’ll stand here and remember just how good it’s been,

And I know I’ll never love this way again.

Monika is survived by her husband, Frank; her sister, Sylvia; her brother-in-law, Matthias; and their children, Christoph and Patrick. She is also survived by her father, Rudi and her mother-in-law Christel. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Inge, last year, a loss that weighed heavily on her. Her love, wisdom, and joy were gifts she shared not only with her family but also with all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey over the last two months. Your kindness means more than words can express.

A visitation and celebration of Monika’s life will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati Columbus Rd, West Chester, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Crohn and Colitis Foundation of America, a cause close to her heart.

Rest in peace, dear Monika. You will forever remain in our hearts.

With Love, Frank and Sylvia
