ROOTS, Montie Edith (nee Pendleton) of Cincinnati, Ohio went to be with her Savior on June 24, 2010 at the Brookwood Retirement Community. She was born on November 26, 1923 in Casey, County, Kentucky and resided in Cincinnati since 1942. Montie was the daughter of Fayette (Fate) Pendleton and Sadie Wright. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Elvin, Robert, Carl, Ruby and Estill. She is survived by her husband of over 71 years, Richard C. Roots and two sons, Paul E. (Sandy) Roots, Richard (Sharon) Roots, her brother Shirl (Shirley)Pendleton, three grandsons, four great-granddaughters, and sister-in-laws, Ovedia Pendleton, Louise Hylton, Shirley Roots and Gladys Pierce. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including a very special nephew, Tom (Kim) Pendleton. Montie was a long-time resident of Carthage and long-time member of the Fellowship Tabernacle. She was hard working and a stay-at-home mother who was dedicated to caring for her family. Visitation will take place at the Fellowship Tabernacle, 6910 Vine St., Carthage, 45216 Monday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Springdale, Ohio. The family would like to extend deepest thanks to the caring staff and volunteers at Brookwood Retirement Community and also the personnel of Hospice of Cincinnati. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Fellowship Tabernacle or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
