Nan Howell

Nan Simpson Howell (nee MacPhail) (age 83), beloved wife of 55 years of Joseph Howell who preceded her in death in 2015. She was born November 29, 1937 near Ottawa Ontario, Canada to Winston and Mabel MacPhail.  The family immigrated to the United States in the late 1940’s when Winston worked in the Windsor-Detroit area.  Dear mother of Roger (Christine) Howell, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Howell, Sandra (Bob) Williams, and Susan (David) Chin, also survived by 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Sister of the late John Lorne MacPhail (the late Diana), and Sandra Hatter (the late Vernon).  She passed away peacefully on Monday February 15, 2021.  She was a long-time member of the Hartwell Presbyterian Church.  Nan was a Registered Nurse at The Christ Hospital for 35 years.  She was an alumna of The Christ Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1959.  Nan took care of countless newborns who passed through The Christ Hospital nursery where she spent her entire career before retiring in 1995.  She and Joe were long time Rosie Reds, attending some 30 Opening Day Cincinnati Reds games.  She and her sister Sandra attended ball games too numerous to count.  Visitation at Hodapp Funeral Home, 7401 Vine St., Carthage on Friday February 19^th at 11:00 AM, and funeral service immediately following at 12:00 Noon.
