Nancy Millikan Levesque, Loving wife, mother, sister and friend to many left us on December 28,2024 after battling Alzheimer’s disease for more than 10 years. She was born in Greensboro, NC and grew up in Randleman, NC.
Nancy was a graduate of East Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. While teaching in Jacksonville,NC she met her future husband of 53 years, Rick Levesque. They met at the Officer’s Club and he immediately told his fellow Marine, “that is the woman I am going to marry.” After they married, Nancy taught second grade for several years before she was ‘nudged’ to quit while teaching in NYC because the school did not like her strong southern accent. Her husband’s career led them to Lancaster, OH where they lived for more than 45 years and raised their two children. Nancy was very devoted to her family and was a stay at home mom who made daily home cooked meals and baked goods, while maintaining a spotless home ( complete with daily vacuum marks). She loved to volunteer at the kid’s school and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was also very devoted to her faith and was active in the First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Usher and Deacon. Nancy and Rick were known for their love of gourmet cooking and often hosted friends to extravagant 5 course meals full of laughter and lots of wine. She also had a love for animals and allowed 10 stray cats to live in her garage and laundry room. Several even made it into her home permanently, full of fleas much to Rick’s surprise. A true southern gal, Nancy was very prim and proper, never leaving the house without her hair done and lipstick on, something her family always got a kick of.
Nancy will be dearly missed, although it gives us comfort in knowing she is with her true love Rick who was very devoted to her and was her caretaker for years. Nancy is survived by her two children, Kim (Eddie) Ramirez of Loveland, OH and Mark Levesque of Plymouth, MI, her 6 grandchildren who lovingly called her Nana, Max, Lola and Luke Ramirez and Lauren, Talley and Sullivan Levesque . She is also survived by her brother Troy (Chip) Millikan of Greensboro, NC and her sister in law Sue Oster of Waterville, ME. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rick Levesque, her parents Watson and Jinks Millikan and her beloved grandmother, Etta Talley who was instrumental in her upbringing.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 800.272.3900, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl 17, Chicago, IL 60601, https://act.alz.org or the Fairfield Area Humane Society 1721 Granville Pike, PO Box 1109 Lancaster, OH 43130, https://www.fairhumane.org.
