Norman Radford

- Senior Master Chief (RET.) Norman "Norm" Cleo Radford, 84, of Springdale, Ohio, died on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Hospice of Cincinnati. Norm was born Jan 3, 1933 in Reading, OH to Joseph Radford and Grace (McKinney) Radford. He attended Lockland, OH High School in 1952. Norm served as a QuarterMaster in the Navy for 26 years, retiring in 1976 at the rank of Senior Chief (E-8) in Jacksonville FL. During his service he participated in the Blockade of Cuba during the Cuban Crisis, Jordanian Crisis and Command staff of Naval operations Europe at the Pentagon. His awards were in part; Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal fifth award, Korea Service Medal and China Service Medal. Norm accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was Baptized in 1964 at Fox Hill Baptist Church in Norfolk, VA. After his retirement from the Navy, Norm moved back to Cincinnati and worked for Cummins Diesel as their Warranty Administrator until retirement. He and Millie then moved to Gulfport, MS where they lived until Katrina washed them out and they return to Cincinnati living in Springdale until his passing. He and Millie lived a simple life in Springdale where he rooted for the Bengals and Reds taking good care of their dog (Nicki). He loved to spend time with any and all of his family when possible and spending time at their lake home in Brookville, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Walter and Donald Radford, sister Ruth (Radford) DeMaine-Wright and granddaughter Sara George. Norm married Joyce Cromer in April, 1955 at Port Hueneme, CA. They had three children; James Radford (Thoa Oliver) of Gulfport MS, Sandra (Radford) George (Marvin) of Mary Esther, FL, and Kenneth Radford (Vivian) of New Port Beach, CA. They all survive. Later Norm Married Millie Everhart on November 23, 1979 in Las Vegas, NV. Two Daughters were added to the family; Jerilyn (Radford) Musick (Dan) of Mason, OH, and Andrea (Radford) Schuff (Michael) of Alexandria, KY. They all Survive. Others surviving are his wife of 38 years Millie Radford, brothers Robert Radford (Janet) of Dayton, OH, Gary Radford of Cincinnati, OH, thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. The Rev Marvin George will hold services Friday, July 21, 2017, at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati-Columbus Road, West Chester, OH, 46069. Visitation begins at 11:00 am with a memorial service immediately following at 12 Noon. Norm's final resting place will be in the Reading Cemetery in Reading, Ohio
