Oma Hamilton, 93, of Monroe, Ohio passed away at Hawthorn Glen Nursing Center on Monday, February 17, 2014 with her family by her side. Oma was born in Viper, KY on January 22, 1921 to parents, Abe and Anner DeHart. Oma married Dan Hamilton on June 19, 1937 in Orchard, KY, and they were blessed with 63 years together until he passed on in July of 2000. Oma worked in the family business, Hamilton’s Grocery, in Bethany from 1954 to 1965 and also for the U.S. Postal Service in Bethany until its closing in 1968. She loved to quilt and has made all of her family’s quilts over the years. Her family was her life, and we are deeply grateful for having her as our mother. Oma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Raymond Hamilton, daughter Thelma Barrett, grandson Danny Barnett, and her five brothers, Bill, Jake, Ed, Millard and Ralph. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Dennis (Marion) Hamilton and Kenneth (Alice) Hamilton, three daughters, Reva (Mike) Cook, Debbie (Rob) Phillips, Linda Hamilton, son-in-law Lowell Barrett, daughter-in-law Sue Hamilton, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. The family would like to thank the staff of Hawthorn Glen Nursing Home for their care of our mother. Visitation will be held at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6410 Cincinnati-Dayton Rd., LIBERTY TWP., Ohio 45044 on Thursday, February 20, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service on Friday 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
