Patricia Lee Bruggeman

Pat was born Patricia Lee Boone on May 19, 1938 to Robert and Estella Boone in Newport, KY. “Bob” & “Stell” were hard working young parents. 4 years later welcomed Pat’s brother Roger and then little sister Cindy was 14 years Pat’s junior. Growing up, Pat loved spending time with her cousins and dog Squeaky Lee. At age 15 Pat started following in her parent’s footprint and began working for Mr. Joe at Martin’s Town & Country in the Newport Shopping Center. Pat continued to work for Martin’s for many years becoming assistant manager under Clara Robbins and then store manager at the Tri-County location. 

Pat met David Hendricks and were married in 1959. In October of 1961 had a son, David Wesley Hendricks Jr. In December of 1962, Pat gave birth to Lisa. Lisa only lived one day. In December of 1963 daughter Laura was born. The family of four lived in Groesbeck and later West Chester, OH. David Sr. passed away unexpectedly in September of 1990 leaving Pat as a 52 year old widow.

Pat met James Bruggeman though mutual friends as a “nice widow” who lost his wife, way too soon. Jim and Pat fell in quick love and married in April of 1992. To Jim, Pat became “Pattty”. Patty then had the blessing of another son, Jeffrey and a daughter, Liliane. Jim and Patty had 30 great years of travel, and much laughter. They shared 5 grandkids and the joys of a larger family. Pat having worked in retail for so many years, now enjoyed buying presents for Jim and her family. The Christmas season that was so difficult working retail for so long, now became a joy.

Pat left this world after being pampered and cared for by Jim while dementia slowly took her away. Also preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Estella Boone, her baby sister, Cindy Lucke-Holz, her first son-in-law, Steven Kinsel, her daughter-in-law Kim Bruggeman, many cousins and friends. Pat leaves behind husband, James Bruggeman. Children: David Hendricks, Jr., Laura Cantor, Jefferey Bruggeman, & Liliane Opp. Daughter-in-law, Peggy Hendricks. Sons-in-law, Samuel “Trey” Cantor and Matthew Opp, Grandchildren: David Hendricks III, Lindsey (Matthew) Nortmann, Nicholas Hendricks, Kaitlynn Bruggeman & Owen Opp. Great grandchildren, Gabriel and Livia.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Hodapp Funeral Home 8815 Cincinnati-Columbus Rd. (Rt. 42) West Chester, OH 45069 from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will be held at West Chester Twp. Cemetery following the funeral service.
