Patricia Ann Herrington

Patricia Ann Mayer Herrington passed away peacefully on August 27, 2023, surrounded by her family. Loving mother of Teresa Joann (Roger), Mark William (Cathy), and Randall Dale (Dixie). Dear grandmother of Patrick, Ryan (Nicholas), Michael (Tori), Brian, Tad (Leah), Alexander (Stephanie), Taylor (Allison), and great grandmother to many. “Gigi” to countless special extended family members and friends including niece and nephews Linda (Lee), Gary (Rosie), and Mac (Meg). Preceded in death by Dale William Herrington, beloved husband of 61 years, niece Linda, and cherished grandson Alexander. 

Patti was born December 27, 1937 to Alfred Peter and Theresa Padgett Mayer. She grew up in the Brookside Park area of Indianapolis, Indiana where she made life-long friends. She met Dale on a blind date while attending Arsenal Tech high school, and married him in 1957. Patti raised her three children and championed Dale’s career across Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. Patti was an avid bridge player, reader, and historian. Her hobbies included singing with multiple clubs, and her active engagement as a Daughter of the American Revolution. She traveled the world with Dale, friends, and family. Some of her favorite travel destinations were Hong Kong, Hawaii, the Mexican Riviera, and the Mediterranean. Her final international destination was Cuba, where she wanted travel since she was a little girl. 

Patti loved people, included everyone, and loved gatherings of her friends and family. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held on October 14, 2023 at Brookside Community Church: 1035 North Olney Street | Indianapolis, IN | 46201. The memorial service will begin at 12:00 noon. In Patti's own style, wearing bright colors, patterns, or your fanciest hat is encouraged. All are welcome to stay, gather, and share memories of Patti in the church community room afterwards.
