Patricia Ann Walsh (nee Doogan), beloved wife of Michael A. Walsh, loving Step-mother of Michelle (Bryon Moudy) Walsh, Theresa (Kris) Wicklund and Christine (Jesse Earles) Walsh, step-grandmother of Kara Wicklund, sister of Katy (Nick) Campolongo, aunt of Tara (Doug) Haas, Maria Campolongo and Amy Campolongo, preceded in death by her parents William and Marion Doogan.
Patricia was a lifelong nurse and caregiver. She obtained her Registered Nurse credential (Bethesda Hospital, 1978) and BS in Nursing (University of Cincinnati, 1993) and completed graduate level business courses at both Xavier University and UC. She initially held clinical and supervisory positions in critical care, cardiology, and cardiac and bone marrow transplant at University (1978-92) and Jewish Hospitals (1993-94) in Cincinnati. Her contributions included education of patients and medical staff, as well as coordinating and co-authoring published medical research. Patricia was commissioned and served as a Captain in the US Air Force Reserve Nurse Corps from 1991-95. Patti became a senior national consultant focusing on hospital medical supply chain solutions, cost reduction and value analysis with McFaul & Lyons, Ernst & Young, Cardinal HealthCare and McKesson (1994-2002) and served as a Manager at Christ Hospital (2009-10) in this role. She also worked as a Community Outreach Coordinator for Hospice of Cincinnati (2002-04) and Director of Business Development at VistaCare Hospice (2006). During her time in North Carolina, Patti volunteered with the Chocowinity Community Emergency Response Team (CERT: 2016-20). Throughout her life, Patti was a vital and proactive medical consultant on her own care, that of her family and many friends. She remained a Licensed Registered Nurse in Ohio until her passing. She will be best remembered for her genuine concern for others and for nature, her positive personality ("sparkle'') and smile. Asked for her own epitaph: "I tried".
Patti passed away December 24, 2023, at the age of 67. Celebration of Patti’s life will take place on Friday, January 5, 2023, at Hodapp Funeral Home 8815 Cincinnati-Columbus Rd (Rt. 42) West Chester, OH 45069 with the immediate family gathering from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Followed by a public memorial visitation from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. A memorial service will tale place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. including a Nurses Service, Religious Service and Miliary Service. In lieu of flowers the family prefers that memorial donations be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen or Doctors Without Borders.
