Paul M. Hendrick

May 6, 1935 — August 2, 2023

Cincinnati

Paul M. Hendrick of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away August 2nd, 2023 at his Ohio Living Llanfair residence. Paul was born in Niagara Falls, on May 6th, 1935 to the late Myron and Katharine (Sheridan) Hendrick. A 1953 graduate of Niagara Falls High School, Paul went on to become a Magna Cum Laude undergraduate at Colgate University in 1957, and earned his Masters in Art from Harvard Graduate School of Education in 1958.

Paul was married in 1962 and settled in Cincinnati to teach at Woodward High School for 14 years, followed by St. Xavier High School for an additional 21 years before retiring in 1997 with thousands of young minds having benefitted from his wisdom. A lifelong devotee of live dramatic and musical theater, Paul also volunteered extensively at the Cincinnati Art Museum and was proud to become Docent Chair. He will be remembered by many.

Paul was preceded in death by brother Robert Hendrick of Lewiston, NY.  Paul is survived by Nephew David C. (Leigh Ann) Hendrick of Bemus Point New York; Niece Debbie (late Mark) Schoonover of Sebring, Florida; Sister-In-Law Sally (Robbins) Hendrick of Sebring, Florida.

Marcia (Creagh) Hendrick of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away September 22nd, 2022 in Hospice at Ohio Living Llanfair. Marcia was born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 2, 1935 to the late Owen T. and Marcell (Smith) Creagh.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Frederick S. Creagh of Niagara Falls.   Marcia, also a member of the Niagara Falls High School class of 1953, went on to graduate from Antioch College's work/study program in 1958.  She then worked with the Grail Women's Movement in Loveland, Ohio before finding her real career as a Naturalist at LaBoiteaux Woods.

Having met in the seventh grade, Paul and Marcia brought new meaning to the term "lifelong friends", building a beautiful home in Clifton together and accompanying one another abroad; their favorite travels were in the United Kingdom and Bermuda. Together, they did myriad volunteer work, most notably for Meals on Wheels, always glad for the other's company in whatever their plan.

A joint funeral for Paul and Marcia Hendrick is planned for Saturday, August 26th at 11am in the aptly named Chapel of the Holy Companions at  St. Xavier High School, 600 North Bend Street, 45224. Reception following service; for easiest access, the school advises using the rear entrance by the new gym.

Donations may be made to St. Xavier School Paul and Marcia Hendrick School Fund, the Nature Conservatory and the Cincinnati Art Museum.
