Phillis R. Dietz (Van Wagenen, nee Jones), 89, of College Hill, died peacefully on October 23, 2014, surrounded by her family. Phillis was born on December 20, 1924, in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia, to William and Hannah (Wilson) Jones. She is preceded in death by her five sisters – Lorrie, Francie, Lorna, Kathy and Clarice; and by her beloved husband, James C. Dietz. She was the cherished mother of David (Susan), Brian, Trevor (Karen), and Laura (Markus); stepmother to Joany (Patrick), Harriet (Robert); grandmother of nine: Jennifer, Elisabeth (Terrance), John, Brittany, Justin, Stefan, Nina, Michael (Jessica), Scott (Dasia); great-grandmother of Hannah, Abigail, Major, and Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews. In 1946 Phillis married Harold Van Wagenen and emigrated to the U.S. in 1947. In 1974 she married, Jim Dietz, who predeceased her in 2009. Phillis was a long time member of Grace Episcopal Church, the Cincinnati Women’s Club, and season ticket holder to the Cincinnati Symphony. Visitation at Hodapp Funeral Home 6041 Hamilton Ave College Hill, Saturday, November 1, 10:00-12:00. Service at Grace Episcopal Church 5501 Hamilton Avenue, 12:30, interment to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
