Raymond “Ray” Whitlock passed away on October 31st, 2024 comfortably in his home surrounded by loved ones. Ray was well known for his humor, always bringing laughter to any room he was in.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1939 to Vestal Bray and Raymond Rolly Whitlock. Throughout the years, Ray remained loyal to the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals each season, despite how many disappointments they faced. Ray attended Sharonville high school before receiving his bachelors in History from the University of Cincinnati. He pursued a career as an insurance agent, before co-founding his own agency. He retired in 2003.
Ray met his loving wife, Pat as high school juniors. They officially married in 1959, and spent 65 years together. Ray and Pat had one son, Greg, in 1960.
Ray’s grandkids, Ben and Stacey consistently got special treatment. He always made sure to tell them they were the best at anything they set their minds to. Spring breaks were spent adventuring in Florida, and summers were spent lounging in Michigan. He and Pat absolutely spoiled and ruined both of them.
Ray was a bowler, golfer, skier, boater, pilot, coach, square dancer, and animal lover. Most notably, he was also a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Ray excelled at everything he put his mind to. He received a plaque in ‘93 from Eagles Nest Golf Course for a hole in one, and frequently participated in bowling tournaments. Ray shared his expertise by coaching others, and made sure they never forgot to practice.
Ray is preceded in death by his mother, father and brother Rick. Ray is survived by his wife Pat, son Greg (spouse Cheryl), grandson Ben (spouse Mary), granddaughter Stacey (spouse Carson) and brothers Rex and Rodney.
Ray’s Memorial is on Monday, November 11th, 2024 with Memorial Visitation at the Hodapp Funeral Home in Liberty Township 6410 Cincinnati-Dayton Rd., Liberty Twp., OH 45044, beginning at 3 p.m., with a sit down Service at 4 p.m. Guests are then invited to join Ray’s family back at his home following the service. For those who wish to give, the family asks for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society
