BYRD, Richard E. “Red Byrd” Devoted husband of the late Bessie Rose Byrd (nee Belt), loving father of Richie (Cheryl) Pope, Greg (Jamie) Pope, Sharon (Michael) Statt and Karen (Thomas) Schroder. Dear grandfather of Jessica Pope, Stephanie Schira, Ashley Schira, Phillip Poore and the late Gregory Pope. Great-grandfather of Austin Pope, Kayla, Brennan and Evan Garlick. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010, age 79. Red Byrd was an avid motorcyclist. He was a lifetime member of the A.M.A., the Cincinnati Cavaliers Motorcycle Club and a member of The Over The Hill Gang Motorcycle Club. Visitation will be held at the Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati-Columbus Rd. (Rt. 42), West Chester, Thursday, July 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service at the funeral home Friday at 10 a.m. Following the service Red Byrd will receive his “last ride” to Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Hospice of Cincinnati.
