Richard E. Newsted, 58, of Liberty Township, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 5, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on October 28, 1957 in Valparaiso, Indiana, the son of the late Richard L. and Mary Ann (Buckles) Newsted.

Rich is survived by his wife and soul mate, Dawn (Ragsdale) Newsted and his beloved children, Rachel Newsted, Alex Newsted, Boston Ford and Logan Ford. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia (Newsted) VandeVelde. Uncle Dick is survived by many nieces and nephews, along with other family and friends.

Rich received a Master of Business Administration degree with honors from the University of Notre Dame in 1986 and graduated magna cum laude from Ball State University with Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1979. His love of Notre Dame was contagious to anyone who knew him and evident in all that he did. Go Irish!

Rich’s career was largely based in the automotive and steel industries, culminating as the Chief Executive Officer of Meridian Automotive Systems in Detroit. He had more than 30 years of senior executive and broad-based management experience. He was also a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, and Certified Cash Manager. His career concluded by serving as a highly sought after restructuring advisor to a number of corporate boards of directors.

A celebration of Rich’s life will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Hodapp Funeral Home. Family and friends may call on the family at the Hodapp Funeral Home, 6410 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, Liberty Township, OH 45044.  Visitation will be held between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.  Immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 p.m.
