Robert "Bob" D. Garabedian, affectionately known as "Bunny" or "Bun" to those closest to him, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024. Born on September 8, 1943, in Worcester, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of Vaughan and Margaret (MacKenzie) Garabedian.
Bob grew up in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1961. He continued his education at Worcester Junior College, earning a degree in Business Management in 1963, and later received his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Nichols College in 1966.
In 1966, Bob proudly served his country as a member of the 101st Tactical Control Squadron, Air National Guard, until 1972.
His career began with Coty cosmetics and fragrance in 1968, where he developed a passion for business that would lead him to many successes. In the 1980s, Bob’s work at Buxton Leather brought him to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he would ultimately make his home. Later in his career, Bob transitioned to the advertising specialty industry, working with W.C. Sims Company, where he continued to thrive professionally.
Beyond his business accomplishments, Bob was known for his warm spirit. He never met a stranger and had a unique ability to brighten and enlighten everyone he encountered. He was a frequent visitor to the local YMCA, where he not only nurtured his passion for fitness but also built friendships. He enjoyed sharing stories of his interactions with local Cincinnati icons like “Buddy” LaRosa, known for his famous Italian bread, and “Jungle” Jim, known for the best produce in the city.
An avid sportsman, Bob loved playing golf, tennis, baseball, and basketball, and was just as enthusiastic about watching sports, especially golf and basketball. His love for books and dedication to staying informed on world news and events showcased his deep curiosity and love for learning.
Bob is survived by his loving son, Justin R. Garabedian, and his husband, Dr. Joshua D. Sackett of Cincinnati, Ohio; his brother, Wayne V. Garabedian, and his wife, Clare J. (Packard) of Grafton, Massachusetts. Bob is also survived by his extended family.
Bob's light and joyful spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity of your choice in Bob’s memory, honoring his spirit of generosity.
