Robert Newman Thompson passed peacefully at home on September 28, 2020. He was 87 years old, Born on November 17, 1932. Loving husband to Lois, ‘his sweetheart’ of 67 years. They were a strong couple who supported one another each day.

Bob was a devoted and loving Father to Teresa Thompson and Lynn Thompson. Proud Grandfather to Lyndsay Willis Simpson and Robert Willis. Great grandfather to Layne and Landry Simpson.

Preceded in death by his Mother Beulah Rae, sisters Mary Apel and Helen Akers. Born and raised in Indiana his fondest memories were his days playing sports in Greenwood Indiana, playing in the band, singing, and courting his wife Lois. He attended Wabash College and played collegiate basketball.  He graduated from Franklin College.

Bob and Lois are 60 + year members of Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church, where they volunteered their time and talents to the youth programs. Teaching the Communicants Class for many years to young people preparing to join the Church.

Bob was an Army Veteran, learning stenography and shorthand which led to a career with the Pennsylvania Railroad. The railroad eventually brought Bob & Lois to Cincinnati where they have lived for 61 years. Settling first in Pleasant Ridge, which brought life long, dear friends and memories galore. Then moving to Loveland which allowed the family to pursue a love of horses and dogs.

Bob was a gifted salesman, and built numerous portfolios during his career. His proudest achievement was starting his own company later in life and watching it grow.

With age, Bob enjoyed sitting on his back patio and watching the wildlife and birds that would walk across his field. ‘Carl and Lydia’ were his favorites cardinals.

He was an aficionado of big band music and old movies. Able to easily sing a tune and harmonize, he and Lois would often break into song and delight the family.
