HAYNES, Robert Staps, March 22, 1914 – September 9, 2010. In the 14 years since his wife Mary Clair pre-deceased him, he traveled to the Greek Isles in ’97, the Panama Canal in ’98, the Iberian Peninsula in ’99, Australia and New Zealand in 2000, Egypt and Jordan in ’01, Italy and Sicily in ’02, Tahiti in ’04, and in ’08, at the age of 94, he cruised the Amazon River. He has now traveled to be with his wife and his Lord. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Camilla Gleason and Glenn Scudder of Sag Harbor, NY, and Boca Grande, FL. There will be a memorial service at the chapel in the Village Center at Maple Knoll Village, 11100 Springfield Pike, Springdale, Sunday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. An extremely generous man, he supported many charities and memorial donations would be appreciated by any one of them. National Wildlife Federation, Habitat for Humanity, Freestore Food Bank, National Federation for the Blind, Ocean Conservancy, Doctors Without Borders, Ducks Unlimited, the Smithsonian or the ASPCA.
